Bangladesh bowlers Taskin Ahmed and Arafat Sunny are
expected to head to Brisbane next month in a bid to get their bowling
actions cleared before England begin visit the dense Asian country next
month.
Both bowlers were banned from bowling in international
cricket during this year's World T20 in India, but the pair have been
named in a preliminary 30-man squad for the England Test and ODI series.
The duo had been reported for suspected illegal actions
following their side's opening match of the WT20 group stage, an
eight-run win against the Netherlands in Dharamshala on March 9.
They were assessed at the ICC-accredited independent testing facility at the Sri Ramachandra University in Chennai a week later.
Arafat Sunny
Off-spinner Arafat Sunny is confident after being improved his bowling
action, stating he will once again return to international cricket
strongly.
“As of now I’m fully focusing on my bowling. As I have a problem I’m drilling, practicing and focusing on how I can overcome this. I don’t look at other matters at this moment,” said Arafat Sunny, who recently lost his father.
“All my coaching staffs, who were working with me, told that my action has been better than the past. Now I was following what I needed to cross the hurdle of the bowling test. Alhamdulillah, everything is going well,” Sunny told newsman.
“I’ve seen many bowlers earlier faced the same thing and come back in action by the grace of Allah. I’m also hopeful of coming back strongly in bowling again,” he added.
Sunny said that he has been working with his problem since his suspension form international cricket.
“I’m working with my problem. I had problem in landing, which used to stretch earlier but now is being paralleled. If I could do it in right way, Inshaallah, my bowling action will be okayed,” the left-arm spinner said.
“I’ve worked with Ruwan Kalpage. I have sent my bowling videos to him. After watching these videos he would advise me where my lacking is. I had a constant communication with him.”
“Nobody understands it. Even I didn’t tell anybody. I think I do my own work. It would be helpful for me if he would stay or someone would stay beside me in this time. Here my bowling video has been analysed. Those who work here give me advice. Nasu bhai, Salahuddin bhai suggested me in this regard,” he also said.
He believes that he bowls in one action so if he regularly practice on it then it will be possible to amend.
“I am confident about my test what I tried in front of them. My bowling action has been better than the past. Even in skill practice coach commented on me to see my better action,” he said, adding “I’ve bowling in one action so there will be a deficit. I could be overcome if I regularly practice on new action.”
Sunny along with pacer Taskin Ahmed has been suspended from bowling in international cricket for illegal action during the 2016 World T20. The duo will fly together for Brisbane’s National Cricket Centres on September 5 to attend the bowling test. The test for both Taskin and Arafat will be held at the same day on September 8.
The training camp of the Bangladesh team formally will end on September 5 before the Eid vacation though they will play their third practice match at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) on September 6. Head coach Chandika Hathurusingha is likely to accompany with them in Australia during this vacation.

The 20-year-old fast bowler Taskin appealed his
suspension, opting for a judicial review of his case amid reports that
his stock and yorker balls had been found to be legal but some of his
bouncers had been delivered with an illegal action.
That appeal was dismissed just hours before Bangladesh's WT20 match against host-nation India.
Now, some five months later, the pair are set to have
their actions re-tested at the Bupa National Cricket Centre in Brisbane,
which is also an ICC-accredited testing facility.
"The test date is most probably September 8 in Brisbane,"
said the Bangladesh Cricket Board's media committee chairman Jalal
Yunus.
"If that happens, we are hoping to get (Taskin) cleared in
the following 10-12 days. We are hopeful about him in the test, we feel
that he has rectified his bowling action.
Left-arm spinner Sunny, who did not appeal his suspension
at the WT20, has been working with Bangladesh head coach Chandika
Hathurusingha and former India spinner Venkatapathy Raju.
"They are convinced that Sunny is ready for the ICC
assessment along with Taskin. The two might go to Brisbane together,"
Yunus added.
Meanwhile, a three-member England and Wales Cricket Board
security delegation has completed their assessment of security
arrangements in Bangladesh ahead of the tour.
The ECB's chief security officer Reg Dickason, head of
cricket operations John Carr, and the chief executive of the
Professional Cricketers Association, David Leatherdale, had all spent
time in Dhaka to check on security ahead of England's planned two-Test
and three-ODI tour.
"We will know whether it was a positive tour for them when they report back to the ECB. They will decide only then," Yunus said.
"They visited all the hotels and ground facilities, and
were briefed about security. There's no time frame, and we won't put any
pressure.
"They took everything quite seriously here, and spoke to
nearly everyone, including the country's security intelligence. They
were given a detailed security plan at the home ministry."
England's tour of Bangladesh is scheduled to start on September 30.
